Hitchcock’s The Birds (1963) was the first film (when I saw
it as a teenager) to make a real impression on me. My response is to examine
the behaviour of birds to investigate their intention. By speeding up and
slowing down their sounds and actions, a range of emotions are evident although
the desire to conquer appears to be incipient.
